Requirements for Continued Professional Education (CPE)
In compliance with the Texas Administrative Code, Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is mandatory for all Texas educators. Holders of the Standard Classroom Teacher Certificate shall complete 150 clock-hours of CPE every five years. In addition, refer to the TEA professional development website for information concerning certificate renewal and CPE tracking requirements.

Castleberry ISD provides professional learning opportunities within the teacher work calendar along with opportunities to attend trainings during the summer months and on weekends. Teachers attending these trainings will receive CPE credits based on the individual trainings. If the professional learning is offered in the district, these credits will be issued in Eduphoria. If the professional learning is offered outside of the district, then the teacher can submit a certificate of completion to have the CPE credits added to their Eduphoria portfolio.

Description: In this course, new teachers to Castleberry ISD will be instructed on the structure of our science pacing calendars, science block, guiding documents, and other resources. Returning teachers will be provided with information regarding updates to guiding documents and pacing calendars, as well as any new information necessary for the 22-23 school year’s science instruction. ESL/Dual Language Required Professional Learning

Description: Bilingual Academy aims to empower new and returning teachers as well as campus leaders in closing achievement gaps and equity gaps in bilingual classrooms. Teachers will explore and analyze a variety of topics during this 12-hour training, including translanguaging in the classroom, TELPAS-ELPS connections, and analyzing text and writing through a multilingual perspective. Who: Elementary - GT Coordinator (serves all K-5 students in pull-out program)
Secondary - (1) Prior to assignment in the program, teachers who provide instruction and services that are a part of the program for gifted students have a minimum of 30 hours of staff development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students, assessing student needs, and curriculum and instruction for gifted students. (2) Teachers without training required in paragraph (1) of this section who provide instruction and services that are part of the gifted/talented program must complete the 30-hour training requirement within one semester. Description: This 30-hour training must include nature and needs of GT students, identification and assessment of GT students’ needs, and curriculum and instruction for GT students.
