The district theme this school year is #Learning4All. What three strategies did you learned about today during your Professional Learning Sessions you can implement to ensure all students reach their individual learning goals? What will #Learning4All look like in your classroom this year? In addition, respond to two discussions posted by a colleague. Review the rubric to ensure you have addressed all key components in your reflection.

So given a lot of resources for UIL from the website including a pamphlet with TEKS alignment and the schedule for events. We also reviewed important strategies for recruiting students so that tier 1 kids can also be challenged and rewarded for their efforts. Looking forward to a new year.

Since I changed grade levels, I based all my professional development on learning the curriculum and ensuring I know how to use all the materials provided for the classroom. My first session talked about "the bridge" and showed us different activities with real life samples on how will that look like in the classroom. My second session was a continuation of the first one but on this part of it we were learning how to use the new material provided to the bilingual classrooms. I was able to interact with other colleagues that have more experience and share strategies to be an effective teacher during this school year. We were able to browse their online resources and extra activities we can apply in the classroom. The third session was about a new program that we will be able to use this year with our students. I liked the fact that is kid friendly and we were able to use the site as students and then as teachers. We were able to "feel" the program on both ends. This is a great formative assessment tool were the students won't feel threatened and are able to have independence.

I absolutely agree with you that it is necessary for students to be 'in charge' of their own education. Holding students accountable and having them keep track of their own progress allows the students to "see" their progress throughout the year - not just hear the words from their teacher. I believe that when the students are accountable for keeping track of their own progress it gives them more buy in and their are more inclined to want to succeed.

I love that you want each student to be in charge of their own education even in Kindergarten! The first take away from today’s sessions that support learning for all was the Special Ed training with Ms. Turner. We looked at new teacher input forms and how to be specific that allows special ed case managers to create measurable and attainable goals for our special ed students. The second takeaway is using SeeSaw for student portfolios and booksnaps. We now have some great ideas that will allow all of our students to reflect on their learning and receive timely, productive feedback. Students can also have fun creating booksnaps using Bitmojis and emojis to keep them actively engages. Third takeaway is the use of FP phonics lessons. These lessons are rigorous and specific to meet our second graders needs and will allow us to see great progress in their reading and writing skills throughout the school year.

The first strategy I learned about was utilizing the cognitive G's to understand student's strengths and weaknesses and then using this information to tailor the way a student is taught in order to reach their goals. The second strategy I learned about was utilizing social and emotional strategies to help change student's behavior and therefore help them reach their individual goals. The third strategy I learned was utilizing creative ways to limit worksheets and use more concrete forms of instruction to engage students. #Learning4All will look like instruction that is informed by G's, tailored to address any social and emotional needs, and utilizes fewer worksheets.

Wow! book snaps sounds like fun. another thing you can do is have reading goals for each of your students. Where they come up with their own goals and keep track of it. This is also very motivating for them.

During Ed Camp I expanded my knowledge of many areas that will benefit my students this year, identifying different types of learning styles, moods of students such as depression and anxiety and how to best accommodate these students for learning and adjusting to unfamiliar and uncomfortable situations. Session 3 covered Achieve 3000 which gave me insight into many programs and options to use when applying lesson to students. How to accommodate high and low learners and where to go when you have questions. In session 4 we learned about books snaps, this was great for preparing a classroom and getting the kids attention and excited about learning. for me learning for all was the theme of the day, each session covered ways to reach all the students at their level. Knowing how to handle depression and anxiety would be most beneficial for my classroom. I find most students biggest downfall on assessment testing is test anxiety, The session on anxiety and depression gave me tools to work with these students. An outside source I would like to bring to my students is Heart Math, it focuses on breathing techniques to calm a student (teacher) down by developing pictures that fill in color when breathing is under control.

I'm glad that this school district really cares about the social and emotional growth of our students. As an ADHD adult, I think it would've helped me tremendously to learn some strategies to cope with my emotions. I'm glad you took the time to go and learn it yourself so you can understand the difficulties the students go through during the school year

I am glad as well that the district and the world at large are beginning to become aware and care about the issues of mental health. Awareness of the issue and knowledge of strategies are vital to everyone from administrators to teachers to students.

Even as a second grade teacher I see signs of anxiety and depression within my students. Something that has helped my kids is reserving a small amount of time during the week for them to meditate or do yoga. This helps them develop breathing skills to relax their body and mind, and just escape from any stresses in their lives.

I have taken many great strategies home with me today! One amazing resource was the interpreting verbs poster Ms. Harper and Ms. Mcdorman created! It truly helps you understand exactly how you should be teaching each TEK and how to break them apart. I will definitely be using this! In my building relationships with at risk kids session, we really dug deep into qualities that help you become closer to your students and to create that safe environment we all wish to create. In the writing to learn session, we were showed amazing ways and topics in which we could incorporate in our science and math classrooms. They showed us all of the great benefits with the vertical alignment as well and how how questions have been tested. They showed us how writing could expand our students knowledge. Learning for all in my classroom with be reaching the mind and heart to the best of the ability in every child by building relationships with the child. Knowing my children and how they are outside of the classroom. Getting to know them on a more personal level so I can help reach them all better inside the classroom.

I learned a lot of new and useful tools today in Edcamp. First, I learned how to incorporate writing in math and science. I am excited to use the graphic to create higher level questions for the students to write about. I always struggled to get students to write in these subjects and this course has given me multiple examples and ways to make the writing they are doing meaningful. Secondly, I got to experience and create minilessons, and now feel more confident in creating and presenting them. It was also interesting to hear that the minilesson should only be as long as the child’s age plus two minutes. Therefore, my minilesson should be around ten minutes, which seemed scary at first. Thirdly, I got to explore the new resources for F&P Phonics lessons, which I am excited to implement in my classroom. I believe these new resources are going to provide me with exactly what I need to build the literacy of my students. Fourth, I was provided with multiple ways to create not only booksnaps, but snaps for all subjects, which will make learning different concepts fun, and allow my students to put their own "flavor" on their creations. These also allow students of all levels to show what they know in a fun engaging way. In my classroom #Learning4All will look like fully engaged, confident students moving through second grade with a growth mindset, using the power of "yet". I am excited to get his year started!

Today has been an amazing day of learning and how to incorporate ideas into my classroom. I was a little worried because when I was signing up for activities not much was for what I teach. But I’m glad courses like Twitter and Google where offered. I’ve never really been a big fan of Twitter but after our Twitter training today I’ve learned so much. I’ve learned how Twitter can be a very useful tool in sharing lessons and ideas, that I can research other Physical Education teachers and what they are teaching and what they use. Here are some great people that I will start following on Twitter, https://twitter.com/thepespecialist. I also like how it can be a tool to stay connected with my fellow teachers in the district. The teachers also teaching the lesson showed us how we can use Twitter to “Brand” ourselves and to showcase my teaching and my students.

This year, as writing has been identified as a weak content area, it will be extremely beneficial to write to learn across all curriculum. The prompts we worked on in that particular session will provide teachers with a data base to pull higher order thinking question stems that allow for elaboration. I really appreciated the quote “Writing to learn depends upon an active rather than a passive approach to learning.” Students must see their learning as an active process. They cannot just learn by osmosis.

I would like to use virtual field trips to extend the learning and bringing the experts in my classroom. One resource mentioned was simply using Skype to connect with another state or country to implement culture and diversity. Another resource shared was Discovery Education. I enjoyed going through this site because it has daily facts, History (Social Studies) and you can create a classroom! Another strategy is using different tools to give students ways to interact with text. Ms. Lamb mentioned a variety of tools, such as: BooksSnaps, SnapChat, Canva, See Saw, etc. These tools allow students to add feedback, notes, or highlights, or emoji’s in a text which they would normally not do in a normal textbook. The last strategy I would implement in my classroom is a self-reflection of myself – as a teacher. Am I a positive, caring teacher? Is there a characteristic I need to work on? Will my students feel safe and positive environment? I need to be the best, have a daily reflection of myself in order for me to ensure all my students reach their learning goals – that starts with ME.

In today's sessions, I took away a lot of useful knowledge in the form of pacing that I believe will be very beneficial to my students. As an art teacher, I want my classroom to function in such a way that my content it being reinforced outside my room while others' content is being reinforced in mine. By having a general idea of the scope and sequence of other areas of study, then I am able to make my content that much more meaningful. I intend to incorporate key social studies ideas into my own curriculum. The Pearson session was beneficial in helping me gain a perspective on what and how the concepts are taught. During the google classroom session, I was able to dig deeper into the benefits of any online classroom as a means to create a student portfolio. During our vertical alignment session, we were able to sift through the strategies we implemented last year and revise and edit as necessary. By implementing these strategies, as well as the other ones I will be gleaning from my coworkers throughout the year, I believe I will be able to create an environment in my classroom that is conducive to #Learning4All.

I really enjoyed the EdCamps that I attended today. In my first session, I learned how Social Studies will now be incorporated in our lessons. The online resource for the Pearson lessons is wonderful. It will make planning for Social Studies much easier. In the second session, I learned how the student portfolios will be so much easier with SeeSaw. SeeSaw will be a great way to check for understanding and for the students to reflect on their learning. It will be much easier for the students to do their portfolios than Kidblog was last year. In my third session, I was learning about the streamlined TEKS. In first grade, not much was changed but they did combine a few TEKS together and took out how clouds move throughout the sky. I also learned more about using the Lead4ward documents and how the resources they provide. In the last session, Nikki McDorman and Whitney Harper created a wonderful chart of the verbs used in the math and science TEKS and how to use them while teaching the content.

I loved the 4 sessions I attended today. I will definitely have my students use goformative.com (thanks for sharing Brent M from JJE). By using this tool, you can instantly know if students got a concept or not. The anxiety and depression session by Ruben M was eye opening - the fact that so many of our students struggle with these issues and that learning becomes so much more difficult for these students. Fortunately Ruben also shared some strategies that can help students destress and refocus. Finally the green screen session was amazing! I so can't wait to use this tool with my students - so many possibilities! With all of these tools and strategies in our toolbelt, students are less likely to be left behind.

What three strategies did you learned about today during your Professional Learning Sessions you can implement to ensure all students reach their individual learning goals? I attended Mrs. Grier's mini lesson session. She did a fantastic job explaining how to create a mini lesson in all content areas. I presented the Fountas and Pinnell Phonics Lessons kit. This resource will be useful to teachers as they differentiate for their students. I also facilitated the Pearson- My World, Social Studies resource, training to support teachers in the Social Studies/Literacy integration.

After today's ed camp sessions the 3 strategies that I can take away are: Implementing new tech tools in my classroom ( Flipgrid and quizlet), engaging the students with games for art UIL, and pinpointing the techniques/experiences/skills needed from art students before they move on to the next grade level. The #Learning4all in my classroom will look all students working on their level with support from the teacher. I will differentiate what is best for my students.

I enjoyed Edcamp today. I learned how to take a virtual field trip using various applications, I learned how to use a Socratic Soccer ball to ask engaging questions in a fun way, and lastly, I learned all about Writing to Learn. They showed us an amazing chart which allows you to easily create higher level questions. I plan to teach my students to use this chart so that they can create questions for their peers about content we are learning. All of these activities will surely be fun, engaging and allow learning for all in my classroom!

One thing I learned today was about Seesaw and using it in my classroom in multiple ways. I loved this resource for learning for all, because for the instructions you can type them, record them, and add pictures. Also, students responses could be typed, recorded, drawn, or pictures could be taken, which is great for the younger grades who may not be able to read or write yet. Another great resource I learned about today is green screens. Green screens are a great resource for a variety of topics, because the student can post themselves in a sceanario or post a picture of what they are talking about behind them. This is also great for learning for all because students can be creative in a way that they like. The last resource I learned about is Merge cubes. This is a great resource because it is very engaging to students and brings them knowledge about things that may not be in their everyday environment. This fits into learning for all because students can record or write about what they are learning about, and it is very hands on.

One strategy that I learned today is how to incorporate SeeSaw in the classroom. SeeSaw can be used as a reflection resource or a formative assessment resource. SeeSaw allows students to demonstrate mastery of content digitally. I find SeeSaw to be effective because it is an engaging and interactive visual for students. Another strategy I learned today is how to use our F&P kits. We gained valuable resources today regarding F&P. These resources included how certain activities looked in the classroom and black-line copies of the activities to print. I found this beneficial in keeping our classroom student-centered. The third strategy I learned today is how to incorporate digital formative assessments in the classroom. Examples of digital formative assessments include SeeSaw, FlipGrid, and Quizzizz. I enjoyed browsing through Quizzizz because I learned that it is student paced and engaging for students. Digital formative assessments are effective in the classroom because they are engaging and students connect to technology. Engaging and reaching all students is a challenging task. However, it can be done. I believe that it takes a positive attitude and collaboration to make #learning4all work effectively. Individualizing student learning and reaching all learning styles is crucial in the #learning4all process. This #cisdedcamp has taught me many aspects about education that I did not know before. I learned strategies that will promote student growth and keep the classroom student-centered. I learned just how important vocabulary is and that students need to be exposed to it every single day. Spiraling back to past concepts can be beneficial to students because it will keep the content fresh on their minds. Overall, #cisdedcamp taught me that to have an effective and positive learning environment, I must keep the classroom student-centered and remember #learning4all.

I really liked this year's EdCamp! My 1st, 3rd, and 4th sessions in particular. I loved learning from Heather Lamb every year. She is one of my favorite teachers! I am not twitter savvy but she showed me that if she can do it anyone can do it. I especially liked the portion about scheduling tweets! I get busy and forget so it is just one more piece that will help me stay connected to our community without being a burden on time. My second session was okay. It definitely could've been a little more organized. There were quite a few difficulties and a lot of it was just watching a tutorial video. Sessions 3 and 4 were by far my most favorite! It is so rare that we get to collaborate, just us elementary art teachers. We did some vertical aligning of curriculum and also dug a lot deeper into the curriculum we had already created. We shared ideas, current classroom management plans, hopes for the new year, project ideas, first day plans/activities. We also talked about certain vendors that we are able to use and the inexpensive products that are worth more bang for your buck! Fine Arts session was the most effective and useful!

During today's professional learning I learned many strategies to utilize in my second grade classroom to provide #learning4all. In my first session, we discussed the basics of SPED and learned about the difference between accommodations and modifications. This will help me build an inclusive environment that helps my students feel successful. Today, I also learned about Seesaw, a digital portfolio that can be used for students K-2 to display their learning. This seems extremely user friendly, and I can also use this for small group instruction. In my last session, I learned about two new technology apps called Green Screen and DoInk! Through this, students can create pictures and videos relating to content being taught in the classroom to display their understanding of the content. There are a variety of ways that these apps can be used, and I am excited to learn more about them this year. Through all of these strategies, I feel that they can apply and relate to all students. These technology and SPED strategies learned today, if implemented with fidelity, will ensure that my students leave feeling successful and valued, which in turn, creates a comfortable environment where all can learn.

Being in a new grade level, I learned many new strategies to implement in my classroom. Seesaw will be a great tool within the classroom. It is a way for students to show artifacts of their learning. The students can record, take a picture, draw, or attach a link. Families can see what the students are learning within the classroom. It has so many uses for the classroom. Another strategy will be creating a classroom of students that love to read. The elementary librarians gave us five different points to make our classrooms reading friendly. What should the reading/library area look like? What types of books should the teacher have? How does a student know how to choose a book? The last session of the day gave me a deeper understanding of the first grade TEKS that will transfer to the classroom. We founds the verbs in each TEK. Ms. McDorman and Mrs. Harper made a very useful visual to know what is expected of each individual TEK. Learning about augmented reality and virtual reality gave me multiple ideas to help my students explore outside the classroom. I will be implementing many of the strategies learned today to make my classroom student centered.

The session on 7 C's was very helpful to me. The session gave me strategies to use with students who are having difficulties in one of the seven cognitive areas. Since I already know of two students who have "working memory" issues, it was very helpful to look at the form provided that will automatically tell me how to work with the student and strategies to help them. The forms and information provided are very specific and will be easy to use and very helpful to me and, ultimately, help the students to have materials and strategies to improve their learning. The session on Dyslexia clarified many questions concerning the process for identifying and qualifying for the dyslexia program.

Lots of great info today and so many good courses our Teachers were able to participate in. I love how we have access to the google slides for referencing afterwards. This is the way it should be for our students as well, right? I know things need to be on anchor charts on the walls but this is so much more efficient and so much more info is provided as we read through the slides vs. what we get on a single chart. Best resource of the day was the Writing2Learn/Learning2Write session and the article we read. This will be so helpful guiding our M/Sc teachers (those who sometimes view themselves as non-writing teachers) when we get back to campus.

The three strategies that I learned today were: how to use Edpuzzle, learned more about The Bridge model, and how to implement Seesaw. I can use Edpuzzle as a formative assessment tool to see what the students know. It's self paced and can be used at the end of a unit/lesson. I also learned a little bit more about The Bridge model. In Dr. Martin's Session, we were able to dive deep into the Teaching for Biliteracy website to look for resources that we can use with our students and parents. One thing that really stood out to me was a parent involvement form that talked about choosing one parent to be the "language liaison" of the classroom. This would take some weight from the teachers shoulders because the selected parent can communicate with other parents needing guidance with the language regarding homework, or other tasks given to students. I think this would be a great tool to implement in the classroom to benefit all students. Lastly, we learned a lot about Seesaw! Mrs. De la Cruz showed us different components of the website and we were able to practice as a student to get a better understanding of what they will see when we use it in the classroom. I learned that teachers have to approve and look over the work submitted, before the students can edit if they made a mistake. We have to send the response back to the student, and then they can edit. The teacher can also have the student edit on their end. I look forward to using Seesaw, Edpuzzle, and our new kit for ELD in my classroom soon!

After attending four Professional Learning Sessions, I feel that I have learned multiple strategies that I can implement in my classroom. These strategies will help ensure that ALL of my students are reaching their learning goals throughout the year. During my first session, Written Proof, our session leaders taught us many strategies that we can use to help our students use writing in math and science to help them retain the content. I liked that each of the writing strategies could be changed and manipulated to meet the needs of each student. In my second session, Seesaw, we learned how to navigate the new way that students will make their digital portfolio. This website allows students to problem solve and express their thinking in a creative way. This is very student and teacher friendly, making it much more efficient for classroom use. In my third session, Fountas and Pinnell, we were introduced to the new ELA curriculum our students will be using this year. This curriculum offers tons of resources that will help us get our students where they need to be. I am eager to dig into all that the curriculum has to offer and to implement the strategies into my classroom this year. In my fourth session, Up Your Game by Limiting Worksheets, we learned several games/make and takes that we can use to replace worksheets in our classrooms. The games are very beneficial because they can be used across the curriculum. In my classroom, #Learning4All means incorporating these newly learned strategies and differentiating to meet all of the needs of my students. Learning should never exclude any students.

I am very excited to use Seesaw in my classroom. This will aid in our #learning4all initiative because it offers many resources and activities to differentiate instruction for all levels. In addition, it offers the opportunity for students to record responses rather than just writing; this is great for my Kindergarteners at the beginning of the year! The Interpreting Verbs poster created by Ms. Harper and Ms. McDorman is an excellent resource that will aid in ensuring all TEKS are taught in their entirety; offering insight on how to breakdown each TEK! From the Mini-Lesson session, I am excited I've learned the actual design of a mini-lesson and how to implement it! This is an excellent tool I will absolutely be implementing in my classroom! Ruben Martinez Jr. did a great job of helping us visualize the population with mental health issues. There are several resources that have quick links on the Symbaloo. My afternoon training was for 504/Dyslexia training. Understanding CISD’s procedures is important for us to make sure A.V. During the Fountas and Pinnell session, we took time to dig into the components necessary to create a cohesive development of reading and writing skills. I focused specifically on the Guided Reading and created an Anchor Chart. I learned that Guided Reading is one of the opportunities where the focus is on individual student reading in small groups. It allows for the teacher to select more challenging books than a student would select independently. As they process through the small group time, the teacher is able to give specific instruction on the word and letter needs of each student.

Three strategies that I learned in these classes is that we need to write across all of the contents. Writing across the contents increases the rigor in the classroom, as well as helps teacher assess what students are understanding. It helps the students communicate and organize the reflection process. Students need to learn how to do this by the teacher modeling this technique. Students need to use manipulatives when they are doing math. A great resource for allowing the students to reflect on their learning is Seesaw.me. Another important thing that I learned is that the verbs in math and science are very specific as to what the students are learning.

Blanca-I too believe that writing across the curriculum is super important for all our learners. It allows the teacher to see the level of understanding that each child has and to meet them where they are. I was also in the See Saw session and am so excited about the tools that the little will be able to use. It is organized in a user friendly way and so much easier than KidBlog. The understanding of the verbs is so important when you are planning your lessons in all grade levels. Just by understanding what the verb is saying you can plan your activities accordingly.

I really enjoyed learning about how we are implementing the bridge this year for our dual language students. The bridge happens at the end of units and makes the connection from Spanish to English and vice versa. It also adds a metalinguistic focus. The four elements of the bridge include phonology, morphology, syntax and the use of language. I also learned about English Language Development sound-spelling transfer. There will be three components to the English Language Development block including sounds and spelling, oral language skills and reading fluency. In addition, I learned about how to conduct virtual visits via Discovery Education and Skype. Students can make connections with another classroom on the other side of the world or across the metroplex. Students can also take a virtual field trip on Discovery Education by streaming existing videos. I also had the opportunity to learn about Seesaw and how students can use it. Seesaw is a versatile app that students can utilize on their ipads. I can use seesaw as a formative assessment to help me see who has grasped concepts and who needs more practice. #Learning4all will look like differentiation, formative assessment and the use of technology to make connections outside the classroom. It will include utilizing the tools that I learned today at each session.

In my first sessions one strategy that I learned is how to use the Pearson social studies website. I really like all the different components for example it is very interactive. In my second session about mini lessons I learned how to be clear and concise with what I am teaching. I can’t wait to incorporate mini lessons in my every day teaching. In my third session we learned about Seesaw. This is one strategy that I just can’t wait to see the students to use! I love that it is really user friendly and I think the students will be very successful at navigating Seesaw. In my last session we learned to up our game without worksheets. We got to make stomp mats that I will be placing in my centers that can be used for ELA or math.

Today's professional development was very beneficial in helping me accomplish the district theme #Learning4All. I attended a training on using Pearson Realize to integrate social studies in my reading. I didn't realize all that Pearson had to offer such as leveled readers and the ability to post assignments on google classroom. Tikatok is something else I learned about which would help students with writing.

I learned how to be an effective case manager by ensuring my students are being served in the least restrictive environment. I learned about the forms that are required to do this. This will help me to be an effective co teacher with the Gen Ed teacher. I also learned about VR and AR apps and devices that I can use in the classroom to engage students. With these i can give virtual tours and visit areas my students would not have been able to otherwise. This leads to effective inference skills and motivation to see everything. If i do these things effectively every student in my room will be getting the education that they deserve by getting accommodations and modifications they need in the gen ed and SPED classrooms.

My favorite strategy that I learned about today was on 'mini-lessons.' Mini lessons should follow the connect, teach, engage and link process. Another strategy I learned about today was on how to use Pearson tools. One of my goals this year is to more successfully implement social studies into the humanities block. Lastly, another strategy I enjoyed learning about was Seesaw. I know I still have a lot of learning to do but it seems like it will be a fun and effective tool to use in my classroom. Through the use of all these strategies, I know I will be able to provide each of my students with opportunities to be successful in achieving their goals. In my classroom, #Learning4All will mean that everyone will be given a chance at being successful.

I learned so many great strategies during today's EdCamp! During my Formative Assessments session I learned more about Seesaw and Quizizz, two websites that I am very excited to use this year! Seesaw will allow my students to easily document their learning through pictures, videos, recording, and journals. It is very student friendly and all of my students will be able to use this with much more ease. Students who can type will be doing journal posts and students who aren't quite their yet can record themselves explaining something. #learning4all! Quizizz allows me to make quick and simple formative assessments to give me real time data. In my session about creating a culture of readers I learned different ways to get my students excited about reading. I can showcase what books I am reading in a poster format to model what a love of reading looks like at my age. Students who might not like to read, but do want to please their teacher might like to see what he/she is reading. We also learned about a website where you can type in the title of a book and it will give you recommendations based off of that. This way we can hone in on our students interests so they can become more excited about reading. During my K-2 Social Studies session we learned about what all Pearson has to offer for us and our students. Between read alouds, print e-text, interactive activities, read-to options, and quizzes, I will be able to reach all of my students various learning styles.

The google updates with Mrs. Martinez and Mr. Michenik was amazing. There were many google hacks that I can employ in my classroom. The google classroom was extremely helpful and allowed me to see some new updates that will be available to me in the classroom and allow me to implement this with more effectiveness. I discovered that I can search in google drive for PDF's and pictures and that I can open them to edit the content. Although the borders and art will not be there, the content will and we can edit it as necessary.

Incorporating technology in all classrooms is something that helps our students grow. Visuals are very helpful for our ELL students and it helps to facilitate all learners. Flipped lessons are helpful and students work well on their own when they know what they are doing. Great tools that you are using to implementing for your classroom.

This year's EdCamp truly exemplified the title Learning4All. All of the sessions that I attended today, focused on ways to differentiate with strategies to meet a variety of students' needs. From looking closely at the resources that we have access to for all K-2nd grade teachers and how they can use these strategies to more effectively integrate their social studies content within their ELA lessons to our new online portfolio for K-2nd grade. I'm excited that Seesaw will eliminate all the obstacles that students faced last year trying to upload their student artifacts. The global relief shared by teachers was refreshing to all. In the dyslexia session, we were all excited to see the new streamlined process for the this year. This is going to be an incredible year!

Today was a great opportunity to learn new things and collaborate with my peers. "Talking Twitter" helped me to understand how I can use this social media to give myself a brand as well as our school district. Mrs. Lamb showed us a variety of ways we can connect with others to learn and grow. Sometimes our ideas can have a big impact on others! Another class I attended was about UIL. Many resources were given to assist us as coaches as well as discussions on how to implement our UIL programs at our campuses. Finally, my day ended with the fine arts team collaboration. We were given time to work on district plans and goals for our upcoming year. Our team produced plans concerning expectations for skills, techniques, and experiences. Overall, the professional learning was very effective and motivating!

One thing I learned today that I can take back to my 5th grade classroom is how to make my imput forms for my SPED students more specific (focused) so they can find the best accomidations and/or modifications to reach their individual needs. I am so glad I did two professional development sessions with Google because it allowed me to see even more ways I can incorporate technology resources in the classroom and increase the rigor of SAMR for my one to one classroom. Learning the Kilgo method for math and science TEKS helped me to better understand how the verbage used in our 5th grade TEKS is aligned to STAAR. I can now go back into my lesson plans and the curriculum documents to see if my activities are meeting exactly what is expected according to the TEKS verb. I will incorporate #Learning4all in my classroom by using this new knowledge of SPED criteria to help my students get the differentiated instruction needed to be successful in the classroom. I will use my new knowledge of Google Sites to create a site where my students can collaborate with each other and have a place to review information critical to their understanding of the content presented.

I admire your willingness to be open about your mini lesson misconceptions! It sounds like a great session. It will just take practice to get the pacing down, and the more you do it the better you will get. Could you have a Time Manager role for one of your students who could start a timer for your mini lesson? Or even a video of your mini lesson would be a great way to assess yourself and how close you are sticking to the recommended times!

Today’s PL training has been very informative for me, from session 1 with Pearson. They showed us many different ways to implement this tool with our students to get them engaged and learning for everyone. DeLaCruz and Gann did a great job getting into more detail with seesaw and using it as a tool along with our lessons. I really think this will help our students, especially our students who might struggle with writing but are able to express themselves verbally. This is how #Learning4All will look like in my classroom, I personally know that my students enjoyed Flipgrid last year. Seesaw reminds me of that but with so many more resources and I love that the students will be able to log in quickly and it be linked with their Google accounts. Mini-lesson training was perfect, simple and to the point, the attention span my 1st graders have is approx. their age plus 2. So a quick mini-lesson of instruction, me modeling and then we all do is a great way to get my point across, one thing Mrs. Grier said if you can’t get all your thoughts (for mini-lesson) on a sticky note then you’re overthinking it.

Today I learned how to brand yourself on Twitter and how to be successful doing so. It is important to portray yourself appropriately and be a good example for your students and community. Your students are able to follow you, and you want to teach them how to have appropriate internet interactions. Twitter can be used to share exciting things about your classroom and to learn new things from other educators. A participant in my class said it was one of the best Professional Development tools she's ever used. I also learned how to effectively submit all of my Special Education paperwork in a timely manner. This will help my students because I will be more organized in the classroom, have up to date data and will be in contact with their parents.

Being a beginning Tweeter, I had no idea all the benefits Twitter can offer such as making connections with others in the education field to gain ideas and inspiration. I was under the impression that it was just used to express feelings and ideas. It has been somewhat stressful getting started, but the more I use it, the easier it is getting.

The 1st strategy is presenting the vocabulary using Oracy first before writing anything is important. This gives all students the opportunity to learn through kinestics, visual, and auditory support. The 2nd is the unit is over, how to bridge over strategy using the same strategies as the first language. The third strategy is how to create assessments utilizing the different applications provided to us such as Edpuzzle, quizziz.com, Nearpod, etc...

All 4 of my ed camp sessions today were engaging and filled with information that I can't wait to implement in my classroom. Starting with session 1 the bridge, I learned a lot about how I will be implementing the bridge into my classroom to assist ELL's with learning English and Spanish. Making sure they are truly bilingual and biliterate. We got lots of resources to help us out with this implementation such as http://www.teachingforbiliteracy.com/metodos-autenticos/. This resource was wonderful in showing how to authentically and effectively teach Spanish to my kids, using research based practices and not just a direct translation of English teaching. The second session I attended complemented the bridge session I first attended. We got to look at a new kit that we received to help us bridge English to Spanish and vice versa. This kit also came with some online resources to complement it. This will help kids see the differences and similarities between English and Spanish to help them learn both languages. https://castleberry.benchmarkuniverse.com/#library

I am wanting to differentiate my activities this year even more than in the past. We always have such a variety of learning styles and levels in our classrooms. I will be working on bringing together activities, projects, homework, practice, etc that reach all of my students at the learning point they are in now. I am responsible for guiding the learning for my students to do well on the STAAR test, but my main goal is to enhance and grow their knowledge further than when they first arrive in my classroom. This has been a great day. I learn how to use Canvas with my classroom. I had only used this program for teacher meetings. I could use the quiz part for students tickets out the door. I like that it will grade it for you. Next at google classroom I learned how to set up a classroom. I could then use the classroom for writing in PE. I have already come up with some ideas to write in PE. You can also do test in this program. So not sure if Canvas or Google Classroom is the best for my subject. I will have to try both and see which one works better for me. After lunch I went to the class "How to build relationships with at risk students. This was a good refresher for me since I deal with all the students in the school. I picked up a few more ideas to use, but was already do a majority of the thing in class. Finally I went to the Debugging Computer Science: Coding, it's not just for kids! course. This has got me thinking about how to implement this is PE. The only problem is I have to keep the kids moving 90% of the time. So I will have to do some more brainstorming on how to use this in PE.

Beginning with A Tour Around "My World" K-2 I became aware of new features that Pearson Easybridge have started this year with sharing and google features. My second session, "To Infinity and Beyond Utilizing Virtual Visits in your classroom was validating of ways that our first grade team at AV Cato have used virtual field trips the past 2 years. I want to increase these events by utilizing virtual trips through Discovery Education. Session 3, Seesaw..For K-2 Student Portfolios appears to be much more student and teacher friendly than KidBlog for portfolio purposes. Session 4 Debugging Computer Science: Coding, it's not just for kids - although we had technical difficulties with the ozobots, I had fun with code.org and seeing what my students love doing in coding.

Our Professional Learning Sessions all centered around Learning4All which was a wonderful opportunity to get to see different styles of teaching different parts of your lessons. Having to pick the three bast things I am walking away with today isn't too tough since each session focused on atleast one thing to help me become a better teacher. The first thing i learned today was that Writing for Learning is about showing that the student understands the concept and is not focused on style and structure. It may be a little tough to ignore the grammatical errors at first but understanding what the purpose of this is will help tremendously. Branding is all about how we want people to see us not just in social media but most definitely carries through most in social media through tweeting, facebook, our classroom weebly and so many other things. The third thing I am taking from this day is how powerful a mini lesson can be if done correctly and now that we have all the components that a mini lesson should have and know that it can be done in a small amount of time when done correctly it will be very effective in our classroom.

The first session I went to was about Twitter. I'm absolutely new to using this social media, but I learned some basics on how to find and follow other users and more about making my brand stand out with Twitter. My second session was devoted to learning about UIL (which is also new to me) and discovering the possibilities of music memory and how that could be the added push for a student to reach toward higher level success in the academic music world, which some of students have a desire. The third session was devoted to curriculum and planning in the elementary music world. Here we looked over and discussed the pacing of instruction over the course of kinder through 5th grade and reviewed curriculum grids as well as implementation. Learning for all in the music classroom will include variety. They will hear, reproduce, play, improvise, create, collaborate, discuss, and evaluate for well-rounded learning. For students just to say "du" rhythmically without using body percussion and playing the syllable on an instrument means nothing without proper context. I will use combined strategies to maximize the understanding. I will employ this from Pre-K through 5th grade.

I learned about the new updates to google classroom. I learned ALOT about Weebly and now feel comfortable that I will be able to keep it updated as a resource for students. I also got some great ideas in my writing to learn class that will help in math and science class. Learning for all will be helping all students on with different abilities. I will use technology, small groups, and intentional instruction to achieve this.

I learned a lot of different activities and technology that i would love to implement in my class. In my first class we learned about VR to use in a classroom setting. I think it will give my class more experiences to be able to look at different items like dinosaurs when we are learning about Giants in PK. During my second class we learned about Digital field trips by using discovery Education to travel to areas that the student would normally get to visit. Like we can go the the zoo and learn all about the animals that we normally wouldn't be able to see in class. In my third class we learned about a new program that lets the student have their own digital portfolio. I am really looking forward to using Seesaw to not only have a record of the students progress but also be able to share with their parents. In my last class we learned about creating problem-solvers through the use of coding. I loved using coding last year and can't wait to expand on it this year.

A very informative day at EdCamp. My first session, Getting My Students to Read and Retain in the Social Studies Classroom would have been perfect for all teachers. Kelly gave many opportunities for collaboration. She also gave ideas for vocabulary development. I thought the survey of how talk is used in your classroom was very thought provoking. The session on UIL was also very informative. Our questions were answered and a timeline was given to make sure deadlines were met. The presentation on dyslexia was extremely helpful. it is very evident that the district is very supportive of the dyslexia program. It is great to know that everyone will be on the same page. It was also helpful to have everyone involved with the 504, Dyslexia, and Intervention process hear the same presentation and collaborate together.

Today I had several ah ha moments. Heather Lamb in Let's Talk Twitter explained the importance of sharing your story. What might be obvious to you may be Amazing to others. I also learned how to use Tweetdeck and more about direct messaging. Digital Citizenship was highly emphasized, I know that as I model using social medium platforms with my students to really emphasize that what you put out there will become your brand. What do you want your brand to be will be a new question I will be posing to my students. With Seesaw I learned that my students will be able to more easily upload and share their learning with me, peers and even parents. I also learned that I can create, upload or share lessons with whole class, small group, or individual student as needed. This will be a great tool for differentiation and tracking student progress. Because students can record this will also be a good tool for collecting data for TELPAS. I also rediscovered Discovery Education and all the new lessons and virtual field trips.

One thing I will take away from today is the different types of writing that can happen in Math and Science. There are four types of writing that can happen. Each type of writing was described and we were able to see examples of each. We also came up with other examples that were relevant to our grade level. Writing in Math and Science is writing to learn. When students explain their thinking through writing or talking, they work through complex content and concepts. We ask students to explain their thinking all of the time. It is just as important that they are also writing their thinking. I love that I walked away from this session with prompts I can use in both math and science.

The information about writing in Math and Science will be very helpful for me too. Personally, I feel like I do a good job providing opportunities for students to write in Science. Now I need to focus on increasing opportunities for students to write in Math. The chart that they provided in this training will be helpful because it helps me think of challenging prompts to provide students so that they are not just writing the same type of prompt each time.

I always enjoy EdCamp days because it gives me the opportunity to be a learner so I can be a CE LIONS (Leaders Inspiring Others to Nurture Success). From Session 1 Talk Twitter, I will take away the ability to use twitter to create a brand and connect with others about what is going on in our day to day environment. Knowing how to use twitter more effectively will add to my knowledge base and give me valuable resources to use as I serve teachers and students. From the Anxiety/Depression session, I will take away the information of the amount children dealing with anxiety and depression. This is enlightening to me because as a counselor, I want to learn all that I can to educate parents and teachers. The strategies that were shared will definitely help me as I work with this students who are struggling with this. From the afternoon sessions about Dyslexia, I was extremely excited to see how streamlined the process has become. I can tell the administrators spent a lot of time doing this. This session was very applicable so that everyone is on the same page with referrals, assessments and the programs. I also felt very supported by the admin presenting the information!

This is my first year teaching and thus my first year attending edcamp. I thought it was a very neat experience filled with lots of learning opportunities. I really appreciated having the choice of picking my four sessions, I enjoyed being able to pick the sessions I felt I would benefit most from. During one my sessions I learned that using writing in your classroom is more than just having the students write out the answers or using writing as a way to see what they know. Writing should also be used as a means justifying their ideas, writing about what they don't understanding, and writing about what they want to know more about. Writing is a way for students to express themselves and reflect their metacognition in words. I will be using writing in my classroom in all the subjects, as well as with multiple choice questions. Students can use writing to justify why the picked an answer choice. Another strategy I learned in another session is to take full advantage of the social studies resources provided for our students. The Pearson representative showed us how to use a program called Tikatok (tikatok.com) to allow our students to create books that can be printed as a way for them to reflect their learning and reinforce what they have learned. Their books will be their own creations and will help them take ownership of their learning. My last session was incredible! They showed us how to use Kilgo vocabulary to maximize the benefits of the TEKS in the students learning. They created a visual representation that we can use when going through the TEKS to ensure that we are applying them in the correct way. This was a great strategy/model to ensure that we are teaching the TEKS in a way that the students are retaining the material and applying it in the future grades. In order to help all of my students reach their maximum learning I will use as much hands on activities, visuals, and creations as possible. I want my students to take responsibility for their learning and realize that they are internalizing material that they will apply in the future and on wards from there. Learning is for all students and through different activities/projects we can reach them at their learning levels and help them to enjoy learning and learnt the most they can.

Today the sessions were so informative! I got training on Achieve 3000 and feel comfortable with the program allowing me to meet my students on all of their reading levels regardless of the differences. Something else that was exciting to learn was Ms. Grier’s session on how to properly do a mini lesson were she took Lucy Caulkin’s system and made it quick and painless; my favorite part was when she said if you cannot fit your notes on a sticky then it is too long. Which will help me to not be so long winded, and allow for more time working with the students. Another session I attended was How to make connections with At-Risk Students which I believe to be one of the most important things that we do as educators; making connections. It was more geared towards the upper grade levels, but I think it is just as important if not more important to focus on making those relationships in the Elementary grade levels. I will be following up with their Powerpoint that was posted in order to make some more notes because it has such good information on how to build those important lasting relationships! As always Ms. Martinez’s class was informative and helpful in building our professional brand, I will be seeking more information on how to implement technology in the classroom because I think it is so useful. CISD EdCamp has given me so much to chew on for this school year and I am so excited about what’s to come!

The district theme #Learning4All focused on reaching every student's individual learning goal. During my Professional Learning Sessions I learned that technology is a great method of ensuring that all students meet their greatest potential. Methods of formally assessing the students to see where a student is needing additional assistance could be done through different websites, such as Quizizz, Nearpod, and Edpuzzle. During my first and second sessions I had a deeper understanding of the bridging method for the bilingual classroom, and was given good resources to use for extension activities which would include research centers, student generated alphabets and journaling. Using TPR to learn vocabulary in one language and then using it again to bridge from one language to the other helps all types of learners to become familiar with the words either through listening, speaking or TPR. #Learning4All would be implemented in my classroom through the use of weebly, where the students could either write, draw, speak, or take photos to display their work. Students work at different levels, therefore it's good to have a method of recording their work to be able to look back on and record their progress, and also to have the students look back to reflect on their own work.

The professional Learning Sessions that I attended today provided me with valuable information that I can take back to my classroom to ensure all students reach their individual learning goals. First, I am excited to use the resources that were provided to me to encourage student writing on a deeper level in Science and Math. The chart that was presented will be a quick reference guide that I can use to make sure I am pushing my students to write more than just recall type responses. In addition, I look forward to implementing Seesaw in my classroom. I think the ease of logging in and accessing these resources will make it more kid friendly and my students will be able to accomplish these tasks independently. I look forward to the products they are able to produce as a result. Furthermore, I will be making improvements to the reading culture in my classroom by following the 5 habits of “wild readers.” In particular, I am looking forward to dedicated time for reading and planning ahead by having books to go that can be used when my class is waiting for the nurse, waiting at an assembly, etc. Finally, resources that are available via canva can help me create a teacher weebly that is inviting to the parents of my students. #Learning4All in my classroom will be differentiation for students and meeting them where they are. It will include data reflection and conversations during PLC to zoom in and focus on my students’ strengths and weaknesses.

During this Edcamp I tried to focus on lessons that I knew will be beneficial in helping me enhance my lessons. I am taking several new ideas I will definitely be incorporating in my classroom. I learned how an efficient mini lesson should look like and the structure of it. I now know a mini lesson is composed of 4 sections which are; connect, teach, engage and link. I will definitely be applying this knowledge when lesson planning to purposely ensure every student is engaged and excited. I also learned the appropriate time of how long a mini lesson should be which is the students age +2 minutes. The next thing I learned was the bridge and how to do it efficiently. I was able to see how it looks like in real life and was given several ideas of how I could do it in my classroom, by my instructor. I also learned that it needs to be done at the end of the unit'. To conclude I learned the mysteries of unlocking the Math and Science TEKS using Kilgo. I learned the importance of really knowing the verbs in the TEKS to ensure you are fully covering them. We were able to look at Math and Science TEKS and find those specific verbs and think about previous lesson to see if we were actually covering them appropriately. In addition Mrs. Harper and Mrs. McDorman presented us with a chart they created in which they broke those verbs in categories to simplify the appropriate usage of those words. I believe that chart will become my best friend this year. I hope it becomes a tool the whole district adopts in the recent future. Finally, #Learning4All will become a motto in my classroom by encouraging a safe place in which my students can be themselves and an atmosphere in which my students feel safe to take risks and fail often while learning from those mistakes. It will be a place in which they can be challenged at their own levels yet have fun in the process of learning.

I believe that the best teachers are those that learn from one another and know their strengths and weakness. It's impossible to do everything on our own and that is why we have a team, to rely on them when needed. It brings great pleasure to know you will be using your teams approach for developing writing prompts in science, specially since it will be your first time teaching this subject. One advice is to purposely planning for those prompts to ensure your students get to those aha moments on their own because tha'ts when the true learning occurs. I know you will be an amazing Science teacher and I wish you all the best Mr. Dan!

I enjoyed and benefited from all of the classes I attended today at Ed Camp. I was provided resources and was shown how to easily implement them in my classroom. Session 1: #Writing to Learn. This session reiterated the importance of writing across the curriculum and the huge long term benefits it has on all students at every grade level. Session 2: Creating A Reading Culture in Every Classroom. In this session the fantastic librarians of CE showed us great resources for setting up a great classroom reading culture. We were provided with many resources to make it happen. Session 3: Weebly Make and Take. I loved that we were given the gift of time to spruce up our Weebly page. I learned several easy and quick ways to improve my webpage.

During my sessions today, I learned many different things that will help to make my teaching stronger and help me to be able to reach all my students. In my first session called SPED 101, I learned more about accommodations that are made for SpEd students that can also impact the General Education students in my classroom and help scaffold to get them to where they need to be by the end of the year. In the Google Suite Tips session I learned about ways to use Google Classroom to help in my classroom and some cool tips that make life easier when using Google. These are tips and tricks that I can show my students to help them as well. I think my favorite session today was about creating a reading culture in every classroom. This session was filled with fun and helpful ways to make reading more enjoyable and get reluctant readers into reading. I can’t wait to use the Reading Graffiti wall to get my students to discuss, review, and quote the books that they are reading. I also love the tools like Biblionasion, whatimreading.org, and yournext read.com to help my students record their reading, share their reading, and find their next book. I want to create life long readers in my classroom, not just readers that read while I have them this year. #Learning4All in learning to love reading.

I enjoyed Edcamp today. In my fourth session Unlocking the Mysteries of the Math and Science TEKS Through the Kilgo Method (K-5), I was amazed with the anchor chart created by Harper and McDorman. I appreciate the connection they were making using the verbs from Teks and the content of how it is taught. In another session How to Build Relationships with At-Risk Students making a positive and negative chart of memories of are own own teachers made me reflect on the importance of providing a positive environment for ever student every day. I can not wait to build my classroom norms with my class this year. I am going to use Padlet https://padlet.com/ with my students. My third thing I am able to make my content that much more meaningful by having my student writing to learn in Math and Science. I would love to make a station for this in my classroom so students will adapt to justifying what they are learning in their own words.

Three strategies I learned about today during my Professional Learning Sessions that I can implement to ensure all students reach their individual learning goals are: the 7 Cognitive Processes that guide the strengths and weaknesses of children, the Fundamental 5, and building my Weebly website in order to better brand myself. These three different strategies have helped me to understand the district’s theme, “Learning4All”. By learning about the 7 Cognitive Processes, I learned ways to accommodate and provide intervention for students who need help in particular areas, guarantying that #Learnign4All is occurring in my classroom. Secondly, Cisco Matherne did a fantastic job at explaining the Fundamental 5. He really helped me to understand what #Learning4All will look like in my classroom. Learning about the Power Zone helped me to understand the importance of speaking with every single child, every single day. This helps me get to know the child. It also makes sure that I am providing my students with the reinforcement they need and recognizing their achievements. Lastly, I got to dive deeper into Weebly in order to better understand branding myself. I want outsiders to think that I am a positive, encouraging, excited teacher and that their child will be safe in my classroom. Weebly is a great way to brand myself and provide comfort to my student’s parents. I can't wait to implement these different strategies in my classroom as I begin my first year of teaching!

Coming to a district as technology-rich as Castleberry ISD was daunting at the start of last week but the learning environment of the professional learning sessions helped alleviate some of my worries. The tech teachers were able to accurately convey the information and were helpful troubleshooters during sessions. With the "do's and don't's" and overall workings of twitter, I can see now how the branding of my classroom can be beneficial to not only the district but also my students and their parents. Through my second session, I have developed an understanding of how the use of Google Docs in my classroom for assignments, lessons, and assessments can help my classroom become more streamlined and techonology-oriented. I look forward to using “Kahoot!” as a fun and exciting informal assessment tool as it will help to provide me a clear understanding of where my students stand musically.

I took Writing in science and math, What is exactly a mini lesson and Unlocking the mysteries of math and science TEKS. I think that all three will be very useful to help my students reach their individual goals. In writing, they will be reflecting on what they have learned in science and math to reinforce new learning and this in turn will help me find out their level of understanding of what I taught and any misconceptions they may have, thus providing me with the opportunity to clarify. By using the mini lesson strategy my students will be able to watch me model how to solve a math problem and then have them practice with a peer how to solve it. After they are finished with their independent practice the learning will be linked so that they can apply to real life situations in the future. The unlocking the TEK session helped me understand how to interpret the TEKS, that way I will be able to plan my lessons in a way that they target the specific areas and the correct way to teach it. This session also showed us how to use Quizlet.live, this is a great way to engage students in their learning for science vocabulary.

What a great day of informative workshops! I particularly enjoyed the Weebly session and Creating a Reading Culture session. The Weebly session assisted us in incorporating Canva into our web pages. Canva can also, not only align with our web pages, but can also align with our social media sites. For example, our web page theme can match our Twitter site. This is a great way to assist us in creating our "brand"! When parents or students see our theme, they will be able to relate our image or theme to us. However, we must be cognizant of what we select. It should reflect our image in a positive manner.

I did not attend the session that covered SeeSaw but everyone is really excited about it and am looking forward to using it as a resource for student portfolio's. The fact that it stays with a child as they grow up in CISD is amazing. What better way to truly see how far a student has come. It is true to their individual academic growth. To take a 5th grader and show him/her look you didn't even know your letters in Kinder/First grade and now look at the level at which you are writing is great. I was told when I came on board that CISD was a very technology driven district and I thought of course we are in a digital age, but now that I am in the trenches I am amazed at how technology has been interwoven into every part of the curriculum.

Today I attended 4 EdCamp sessions. My first session was an amazing session I think ALL teachers (Gen Ed and SPED) should take next semester. It was an overview about all things SPED.. I glad I chose this class. It was a great refresher. My 2nd session was probably my most helpful session. We learned in depth about ESPED and how to use the program. Session 3 we worked with our SPED schedules. Session 4 we talked about what it means to be a case manager and all of our responsibilities. I loved how clear cut straight forward all the information was presented. I look forward to the upcoming year and being able to use all the new information I've learned today and put into practice.

I really enjoyed all our EdCamp sessions today. I learned a lot that I can incorporate and apply in my classroom this school year so that #Learning4All students will be accomplished. The sessions that I learned the most from were “What’s This Kids Brain Power – Part 1 and Part 2” as well as “Creating a Reading Culture in the Classroom.” In “What’s This Kids Brain Power – Part 1 and Part 2” I learned that all students learn differently and as a teacher it is my job to get to know my students as well as their strengths and weaknesses so that I can help them in every way that I can in order for them to be successful. Not only did I learn about how important it is to learn about each students’ strengths and weaknesses but also my own strengths and weaknesses. How can I become a better teacher so that I can better help my students? I learned that it is important to differentiate lesson content so that all students learning styles are met (i.e. visual, auditory, kinesthetic). In “Creating a Reading Culture in the Classroom” I learned about the importance of modeling a good reader every day, having various safe places around the classroom that students feel encouraged to read in, and display a variety of reading materials that are accessible for all students. Creating a reading culture in the classroom and modeling what a good reader is essential to ensuring that all students reach their individual learning goals. I plan to set up my classroom this school year with a variety of reading spots, many books displayed around the room, books accessible to all students, incorporate various learning styles in my lessons as well as station rotations, and get to know what my students’ strengths and weaknesses are so that I can help my students in the best way possible.

Today I learned many strategies that I will be implementing in my classroom. The first thing that I believe that is important for my students is the mini-lesson. Here is where the students will be able to make a connection on what we are learning. Then I will be able to explain and demonstrate. After that the students will be able to practice and be engaged in the lesson. Then at the end of the lesson we will be able to link it to our everyday learning. Once my students have the concept learned in one language I will then be able to bridge it to the next language. This is the second strategy that I was really able to learn and I am excited to see how it turns out in my classroom. Throughout the mini-lesson the students will be able to learn the vocabulary along with proper TPRs. The day that we bridge the students will be able to show the TPRs and be able to learn the vocabulary in the opposite language. After having done some repetition we will start focusing on the metalinguistic part of the lesson. Here we are able to compare the difference of the Spanish and English language. We can decide to work on Phonology, Morphology, Syntax and Grammar, or Pragmatic. In our google drive there are resources for us to be able to use for this part of our lesson. Here is the link for it https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gLhL48pa-2u-c3nTKglFAxbCLcoYK0Nd If you need more resources we were able to make a free account at http://www.teachingforbiliteracy.com/ The third strategy that I really liked was on Achieve 3000 some of our students get motivated when they have a goal in mind. So in the career center section the students are able to select on possible careers that they would want to be when they grow up. Once they select a few they are able to see a small description and the lexile level that they must have in order to enter that career. This will really motivate the students to continue reading the articles and increasing their lexile levels. I am excited to implement all this into my classroom this year.

I’m excited to implement the strategies I learned in the Writing to Learn workshop. Vocabulary development is a big focus in Pre-K and it was interesting to read about the impact writing has on vocabulary development. I’m also looking forward to implementing the writing prompts in our centers.

I'm excited about what's in store for our students. In the F&P session, we learned about the 9 components of literacy instruction. We will use these to help our students get to the appropriate reading level so that in 3rd grade, they can be successful on STAAR. I think the 2nd graders are going to love book club!

Any learners experiencing anxiety and depression will have a barrier to reaching their individual learning goals. Ruben Martinez provided some great strategies to use with kids to reduce anxiety symptoms. Mindfulness and PMR activities can help any students get in touch with the moment they are in instead of focusing on the source of the anxiety. These strategies enhance our existing social and emotional learning programs by helping students with self-awareness and self-regulation.

I am beyond excited to implement all the wonderful tools I received from today’s Professional Learning Sessions. The three main tools that I am ready to dig into are Esperanza, Sound Transfer Kit, and the Teaching Bi-literacy website.
