2018-2019 TEACHER DIGITAL PORTFOLIOS
The Reflective Educator
Why is Self-Reflection So Important?Effective teachers are first to admit that no matter how good a lesson is, our teaching strategies can always be improved—often times it’s why we seek out our colleagues’ opinions and feedback from others for the purpose of refining instruction.
Teacher Digital Portfolios:
Alignment with the Strategic Plan
Goal 1: Transform Teaching and Learning
Objective A: Provide professional learning that reflects a new emphasis on continuous personalized educator growth and focuses on improving student achievement.
Fulfill the New T-TESS Student Learning Objective (SLOs) Requirement
The SLO Process represents a continuous cycle of improvement embodied in strong teaching practice. Teachers and their appraisers will use SLOs to design strategies to meet their goals for student success, beginning with planning and leading to thoughtful instructional design and delivery. Throughout the year, teachers will collect evidence of student learning and adjust instruction accordingly. At the end of the cycle, teachers will reflect on outcomes and plan to refine their practice for the following year.
Earn Two Days of Competency-Based Professional Learning
Teachers will not be required to attend face-to-face professional learning on their May 30th and May 31st contract days upon successful completion of all components outlined in the Teacher Portfolio guidelines listed below. Portfolios are due no later than 8:00 AM on Monday, April 15th, 2019. Campus Academic Leaders will manage the implementation in conjunction with their Principal and the Teaching, Learning, and Innovation Department.
