2017-2018 TEACHER DIGITAL PORTFOLIOS
Teacher Digital Portfolio RubricTeacher Portfolio Guide (Google Sites) |
Teachers in Castleberry ISD are transforming instruction in their classrooms to enhance student engagement and achievement. One way this is accomplished is through teacher self-reflection. Effective teachers are the first to admit that no matter how good a lesson is, our teaching strategies can always be improved--often times it's why we seek our colleagues' opinions and feedback from others. Each six weeks teachers have a different topic to reflect on. For each topic, teachers will provide an overview of the lesson, three student samples (one of high quality, medium quality, and one needing improvement), and a written or video reflection of how to implement the strategy differently in the future. These components are uploaded to the teacher's online portfolio. Our district's Innovation Leaders have built a Google Sites template based on the rubric and required components that teachers can choose to use as their portfolio platform unless they desire to use a difference online platform. Teachers will continue adding to the same portfolio site each year they are employed with the district. Although the district has determined a set of base-line criteria for the portfolio, teachers are strongly encouraged to personalize their portfolios and showcase their accomplishments in the classroom with their students.

Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday, May 30, 2018 are competency-based professional learning days for teachers. Teachers that have completed their digital portfolio according to the timeline below will not be required to attend on these days for professional learning. Those that do not complete the requirements for the portfolio will receive professional learning from their campus Principal on May 29th and 30th.
To qualify for the day off, teachers will build a professional teaching portfolio using an online platform such as Google Sites or Weebly that houses each component of the Teacher Digital Portfolio Rubric. During each district-wide PLC day, teachers will engage in conversation via a Canvas discussion board with colleagues from other schools within the district and provide one another with feedback. This feedback will help teachers collaborate and share ideas about strategies with one another.
Timeline for completion:
August through April 16th - Teachers collect artifacts and reflect according to the district's portfolio rubric
1st and 2nd Six Weeks - Writing Across the Content
May 29th and 30th, 2018 - Professional Learning Day/Digital Portfolio Training - Campus Principals will provide professional learning sessions for teachers that did not meet the requirements on their digital portfolios.
